Knowing Mephedrone

With the recent news of 2 teenagers died after taking mephedrone drug, everybody seems to wonder what this drug is and the side effects on humans. This mephedrone drug seems to be a famous plant food and can be purchased online easily. Mephedrone also known as 4-methylmethcathinone (4-MMC), 4-methylephedrone, meow meow, Miaow or MMCAT, is a stimulant and entactogen drug of the phenethylamine, amphetamine, and cathinone chemical classes. It is reported to be contained in some legal highs and is sometimes sold mixed with methylone, also known as bubbles. Acording to the news children as young as 12 years old and teenagers have been using it because of its intended effects which includes alertness, euphoria, excitement, feeling of stimulation, urge to talk, and openness. These kids don’t know what they are dealing with, as this Mephedrone drug also has side effects which could be very harmful. According to Darlington Drug & alcohol team and Crew2000, this mephedone drug can cause nose bleeds, nose burns, hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, blood circulation problems, rashes, anxiety, paranoia, fits, and delusions. Other side effects may include poor concentration, poor short-term memory, increased heart rate, abnormal heart beats, anxiety, depression, increased sweating, dilated pupils, the inability to normally open the mouth, and teeth grinding. The govenment has promised to take actions over the legal drug mephedrone, but it just makes me wonder if banning is the right way to stop the kids from abusing drugs, if not this mephedrone, there is a lot of other things to abuse, like Ibuprofen, paracetamol and other legal medicine. Who knows what they would try next. Maybe what just happen should raise awareness to all children that abusing or taking something’s that are not prescribe could be a risk to your health and that mephedrone drug is for plants not for humans.
