Ways to stay free of frozen pipes

I got this off from a leaflet from Yorkshire water and I think this is a good way of letting people know how to avoid frozen or bust pipes. I find this information very useful so I am relaying this on my blog, but if you require more information about this, you can visit the Yorkshire water website.

5 simple ways to fight the frost

Before the cold snap:
1. Wrap up warm- make your pipe work, cisterns, tanks and water meters in unheated areas feel the benefit by wrapping them in a waterproof foam lagging or insulation.
2. Get to know your stop top – if you do suffer from bust pip, you need to know where to turn your water off. Your stop tap is usually located under the kitchen sink. Keep a plumber’s number handy too.

During a cold snap:

3. Keep your home heated- set your central heating to at least a constant low temperature, particularly overnight or when your out.

After a cold snap:

4. Frozen up? If you think your pipes are frozen, try defrosting them gently with a hairdryer or fan heater and never use a naked flame.
5. No water? If your neighbours are fine it could be a problem with your private pipes. You may check your water supplier website for some advice and check you can make.

A week after Sendong and help for Sendong victims

After the flush flood on December 17, 2011 around midnight, the typhoon Sendong has left many people homeless and worst is that many people died with that incident and there are still a lot missing. So what has happened after a week? Today it has been on the news that 1,054 people were reported missing and were from hardest hit areas of Cagayan de Oro City (626) and Iligan City (406). Estimated fatalities of 1,080, 445 have yet to be identified in Cagayan de Oro City and 312 in Iligan City. There is still no water in most areas of Cagayan de Oro which makes it harder for people to move on and clean their houses and streets. However, there is somehow some good news, as some Filipino’s nationwide and overseas has been helping those who were affected. Note that they are still accepting any sort of donations; so if you want to share something, you can give any old clothing’s, food, money, bottled water, blanket and whatever you can think of that those people needed. As of where to drop by your donations, the best thing to do is to go to the nearest evacuation center or command center in your area if you are in Cagayan de Oro or Iligan, but if you are abroad, there are Filipino communities helping and gathering whatever they can to send back to the Sendong Victims, so you might as well inquire to those Filipino communities near your area. I think there are also some online thing where you can send cash donations, one of the trusted one I saw is the Xavier University School in Cagayan de Oro, the school has launched a new website intended to help the Sendong Victims at so please check that as well.

I have here some photos of the said Sendong aftermath; these were taken by my cousin from Cagayan de Oro on the 17th of December just after the flood washed off some areas of Cagayan de Oro.

Super Bowl XLV 2011

I love Super Bowl and if you too, you would probably want to look at this graph below. The graph shows everything about the recent Super Bowl event, like the spending, ticket fee comparison, number of people who watch it live at the Cowboy stadium, and many more! Looking at this graph actually brings back good memories of me and my family watching the play on television on the 6th of February 2011. It just amazed me that there is a lot more to find out aside from the score and its all here on this graph below.

How to Stick Party balloons and streamers on wall

Using a masking tape you can hang balloons on walls as well as party streamers. Yes I have done this many times and it has not taken any paint off from my wall, nor has made any sign or dirt from the sticky part of the masking tape. The trick of sticking balloons on wall is to cut about 3 to 4 inches strip of masking tape and roll it to each end, make sure that the outer part is the sticky part, then stick it to the balloon and then to the wall. You can use the same procedure as hanging a streamer, but it may require more strips of masking tape as a streamer is usually heavier than a balloon. The balloons should stick on a wall or ceiling using the masking tape procedure for a day or two, so I would recommend that you start sticking on the day of your party.

On the picture the big balloons are not floating, they are stick on the ceiling using a masking tape.

Graph of the Great Recession: History of the American Recession

Recession is not something that I like; in fact my family has been deeply affected by this recent recession due to the collapse of the housing market which gave me and my husband a negative equity with the house. Anyway, I believe that this will soon be over as looking at this graphic below, this is not the first time America has been to this so called recession! The graphic below is very educational as this contains very important facts about the History of the American recession and I think this would benefit a lot of people, especially those who are researching for school purposes.

Decorations for a white Christmas tree

I have a white Christmas tree this year and I have decorated it with blue and silver Christmas Baubles with blue fairy lights. My Christmas tree is made out of lovely shimmery tinsels and it does flicker as the blue light flashes.

Here is a pictures of my White Tinsel tree with lights off:

Here is a picture of my white Christmas tinsel tree with lights on:

Another Christmas Tree white sapphire decorations

Well, I have chosen these colours (blue and silver) as I think these looks stunning on a white tree but if do not like blue here are some samples on how you can decorate a white Christmas tree.

Import VAT: buying and receiving things from abroad

Excise duty and import VAT- these are the things you should look out when purchasing items abroad. I have been charge with this when I bought an item online from U.S.A, unaware that goods with a value of £18 or more would be charge with customs charges, plus the handling charge of the postal service which is around £8. But if you only purchase and item within the EU, imports duties do not usually apply. Most websites would post their regulations about duties and import VAT and is usually showed before you check out, but some online seller would sometime post this on a very tiny font somewhere on their web page, and most buyers would not bother to read it. So, it would be a surprise when the letter that contains charges is received.

Now another thing, when receiving a gift from abroad, you can be charge with import duties too, but that is if the amount is £40 or more. I do not know how they would calculate duties charges but I think they would base it on the amount of the goods sent plus the shipping cost.

Discount codes from Hubstop Online Department Store

I first heard about this from my sister, she stumbled on this website through an internet search engine and found some discount codes from various online shops. She had a go with one code, I think that was from Boots and got a £5 off for a perfume she purchased online. Well, a fiver is something when you think about it, to be honest that £5 could cover towards the postage of the product you ordered online, which is not bad, considering that you will have to pay for the postage when you buy online anyway!

Now, looking at this website, I found out that Boots shop is just one of the shops that give discount codes through Hubstop and there are some more like Comet who gives out 10% to 15% off on selected items, Gorgeous shop, A-J electronics, Zavvi , and halfpriceperfumes. Basically, this website is more like an online shopping mall, wherein you can see different shops in one place and the discount code is just a bonus! I would say this is a very handy place to go shopping online, the shops are well categorized from mobiles, electronics, men’s and women’s fashion, accessories to travel, and most of all, the shops posted on this online department store are all renowned UK shops. So, if you wish to find more information about Hubstop and its discount codes, feel free to visit the website

White Tinsel Christmas tree

Now is probably the best time to buy a Christmas tree, the 1st of December as I have seen most of the shops are having a massive sale of up to 50% off. I actually bought one recently from Very , it is a lovely 6 ft white tinsel tree that has a shimmery light pink and green mixture. Regular price was £45 but I only got it for £22, which gives me a savings of £23!

The tree has a metal base, very sturdy! And the lovely white tinsel with light pink and green mixture would shimmer as the light hits the tree and with 100pcs blue led fairy light on (bought separately from the tree), it looks amazing!

This is how it looks as of the moment, I have not finished decorating it yet but I am very happy with it.

Travel and vacation

Traveling is something that I like and this graph shows some important information about travel, so I am sharing this with you. The fact that I also travel myself, I find this chat useful as this has the list of the most and top vacation places in and outside United States of America, so please feel free to have a glance.

This cleaver chart would definitely benefit those who are looking into a holiday/vacation or for school research purposes.

Keeping toddler's busy

Keeping toddler's busy is hard while you are doing house chores, but I have here some ideas you can try to keep your child busy. Graduates of educational leadership programs know how important it is for parents to interact with their children. The best thing to do is to get him or her involved in what you are doing, this way it would also help your toddler play and learn with you. Things like:

• When you are washing up the dishes, make her/him stand up next to you and wash saucepan lids. When you are doing this with your child, just be careful and make sure there is no sharp object on the sink that could harm her.

• When cooking, make sure that she/he can see you and talk to you as you cook.

• Buy a little vacuum cleaner so she/he can do a little pretend cleaning, while you are doing the real thing.

These are just a few examples but I am sure you will find more things you can do with your child. The important thing is that you are making it fun and interesting for your child and you get things done too.

Education by Country

Anything that would do well for someone is something that I do share here on my blog and that includes education. Now, on this blog post I have here a chart that would give you some knowledge about how education is valued from countries like U.S.A, China, Russia, France, Germany, and Japan. You will be surprise to see how different it is from one country to another as far a government spending, teacher’s earnings, and the rates of children and adult in and out of school. Anyway, I do believe that education is beneficial to everyone’s future and it should be worth thinking about, so take a glance on this graph and tell me what you think about it!

Adele: Someone Like You video

I got this video from YouTube, and I am re-posting this on my blog, because I think this song is amazing. Well done Adele!

I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you

Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me, it isn't over

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me, I begged, I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me, it isn't over yet

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me, I begged, I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead, yeah

Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
Don't forget me, I begged, I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead

Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me, I begged, I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead

Woman's Military Plus Size Jacket

I am blogging about this as I feel I am obliged as I really think I got a superb quality and great looking jacket! The jacket that I am talking about is this Military Jacket by Taillissime at from their plus size coats and jackets collection. This jacket is made out of tough cotton material and fully lined too which will keep anybody wearing this warm on cooler days and cool on hot days. Remember, this jacket is made out of cotton, so if you plan of wearing this over on snowy days, then you better wear some layer of clothing inside before this, but above all, this really looks great!

What I love most about this jacket is that I could just wear this anywhere! I was actually amazed that the military style just easily mix and match with any of my outfit. Mind you, I am always on casual clothing, like trousers and jeans, but on one occasion I wore it over a blouse, skirt and black tights and I got loads of compliments from wearing it! It actually looks formal when I unbuttoned the collars, so I think I should wear it again over a skirt. Now the thing about buying this from is that it is far cheaper than any other online seller! As a frequent online shopper I have been very familiar with prices and for this kind of jacket you are looking at paying about $ 110- $150 plus postage, but on this particular website I only paid $89.99 plus postage, so I would recommend this online shop as well!

Beware of clicking links on Facebook

Are you aware of spam attacks on Facebook? This happened to me a year ago and now has been happening to a friend of mine. I clicked a link posted by a friend on her profile on facebook and later on my account has been posting the same link into friends walls. I did not post such link and found out on Facebook helpcenter that this is called a Spam attack. Anyway, I have manage to stop the said spam by following the steps on Facebook help center and also told my friend about the spam she had been spreading around other peoples wall.
If you have the same problem here is the explanation and procedure of how to remove and stop the spam you been spreading on Facebook, you can also look this up at facebook help center.

From Facebook Helpcenter: Spam attacks
My account is sending out spam (ex: links I didn't send) or creating events and pages I didn't create.

If you pasted text into your address bar before this happened:
This text was actually a malicious script. This script created events and pages from your account or sent your friends spammy links, instead of showing you what it advertised (ex: who viewed your profile/timeline). This is called a malicious script scam.

Close your internet window or log out of Facebook to end the attack and secure your account.

If you didn't paste text into your address bar:
It's possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer or that your login information was phished. You can secure your account here.

To remove the spammy content:
1. Delete the post
2. Delete the page
3. Delete the group
4. Delete the event

Proper Shaving: Tips on how to apply a shaving cream

I have been shaving my husband’s beards for about 5 years now and have tried many different styles from Goatees, clean shave to styling his beards and it always seems to have a good result and free from razor bumps! Now on this blog post I would like to teach you how to clean shave a long beard.

• First is to trim your beards using a clipper. Best if you can trim it for about 1mm.

• Then apply a generous amount of shaving cream to where the facial hair is using a brush or with your finger tips.

• Using a sharp razor, start a downward stroke on your face to about your Adams apple, stop to where your hair growth changes direction and do not shave against the grain.

• Keep the water running and rinse the razor often.

• Once you have done shaving downwards, shave upwards from your Adam’s apple.

• For those hairs under your Adam’s apple, go as far down as you want to shave and shave straight up to your Adam’s apple and stop.

• Finalize it by shaving sideward’s from ear to your nose or nose to ear depending on your hair growth.

• Rinse and pat dry.

• Then put an aftershave.

So there you go, a smooth clean shave!

Disclaimer: I am participating in a blogger campaign called The Art of Shaving from Bucks2Blog and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am an android user for almost 2 years now and I love the fact that this little thing can do almost anything! Now I know that there are many mobile phones out in the market and online now a days, but it has not persuade me to get a new one as I Feel Richer with Android and Straight Talk’s unlimited everything plan for $45 a month. This is just amazing! And to tell you, this has been a big help with my husband and his little business as he has able to cut down his monthly phone bills in half. You see, my husband and I have been on other mobile phone plan about 2 years ago and the bills are over the top even with tight control over outgoing calls, but now everything has change and we are very happy with that change!

Anyway, I really feel that I want to share this with you, so here is my quick overview about Straight Talk. Aside from all the things mentioned above, with $45 a month no contract, no surprised bills, you will get an unlimited txt, calls, picture messaging and web, plus all the apps and games you need to experience The power of Android! It has got a nationwide coverage, so I have not yet encountered any problems with its connectivity or reception. Free from activation, reactivation, or termination fees and 411 calls are included at no cost too! So, what are the phones offered? I have seen some really good phones from trusted brands like LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia and Samsung, so I am sure you will be able to find the right phone that suits your needs. Like I said, I got a Android phone and I would highly recommend it to everyone I know, however if you fancy something like a smart phone with a smart plan, they got that too! I wish I could tell you more about it, but if you require more information about Straight Talk, you may visit their website, otherwise see the video I have attached with this post. All the best!

Sony CMT-MX750Ni Micro Hi-Fi Photo and specs

I have here 2 photos of Sony CMT-MX750Ni Micro Hi-Fi, now the first one you can see at the bottom (Photo 1) is the exact photograph of this hi-fi sold here in the UK, which has no audio output, but the one that the online shops are using for their advertisements is the 2nd photograph which shows an audio output and audio input socket on it.
I bought one for my husband recently thinking it has an audio output as shown on the online shop catalogue, but when we opened it, we were surprised to see there isn’t! I phoned up the costumer care where I got the item and inquired if there is any chance a headphone can be used on it, and the answer is no, can't put a headphone on it! So I had to send it back. Anyway we tried the hi-fi to see if it is working and just to check out the quality and it was excellent apart from the missing audio output. It plays almost everything like DAB radio,FM, CD, AUX, USB, ipods, iPhones, and wifi internet radio that streams from our PC upstairs. My husband actually like it, but at the moment a headphone is a must for him as we got a little girl who loves to watch TV all day and it would be difficult to have both running loud on a tiny house.

September 30 warm day

It's very warm today, the temperature outside is about 26c and 29c in some parts of the UK. This is because of the heatwave that hits Britain this week and compared with the seasonal average weather here which is 17c for autumn this week has been exceptionally warm!

According to theguardian news, Britain has sizzled again as the record-breaking mini heatwave baked the country.

Temperatures well above average for this time of year were recorded up and down the UK, with Finningley in South Yorkshire topping the chart.

With the mercury peaking at 29.0C (84F), the hotspot smashed the previous warmest September 29, which was recorded in York in 1895 when the thermometer reached 27.8C (82F).

London enjoyed a sweltering 28.1C (83F) at Kew Gardens in the west of the capital, while the seaside village of Weybourne in Norfolk basked in 27.1C (81F) heat.

However this would not last long, as foretasted that on Sunday the fine weather will become increasingly confined to southeast England as cloud and outbreaks of rain spread slowly from the northwest. It will also become less warm and windier. So enjoy the weather while it's good!

Graph of Pregnancy and Birth in the US

Here is a graph of US pregnancy and birth; now the reason I posted this on my blog is that I do like the graphic as it contains very good information on childbirth rate and the rates of pregnancy with complications which I think is very useful if you are researching for the same topic for school or personal research purposes.

Royal Mail Error package delivery email scam

I received an email from customer(.)service@royalmail(.)com and think this is a scam, it has got a document attachment on it, but I did not bother to open it, instead I went to the royal mail website and look if there is something that says about scam emails or suspicious emails. Luckily I found what I was looking for, on the royal mail website under costumer service/security/suspicious-emails I found this information:

From The Royal Mail Webiste

If you receive an email that appears to be from us but is unexpected, remember:

We will never send you an email asking for credit card numbers or other personal or confidential information.
We will never ask you to enter information on a page that isn’t part of the Royal Mail website.
We will never include attachments unless the email was solicited by you and sent from a recognised member of Royal Mail staff.

Here are some quick ways to tell a scam email

Check at the top. Fraudsters often use subjects or greetings that are impersonal and general, like “Attention Royal Mail Customer”.
They may use a forged email address in the “from” field like "”.
They may even use the Royal Mail logo. None of this guarantees the email has come from us.

What are scam emails?
Scam emails try to lead you to a website and enter personal information which is used by fraudsters to commit identity theft and other crimes. Don’t fall for them. If in any doubt, report them to our dedicated security team and delete them from your inbox. The subject of the email may refer to an item of post being held for collection and asks you to call a specific telephone number. We will never email you about attempted delivery of mail items. Do not call the number. You may be charged for a premium rate phone call or asked to enter personal information.

Our golden rules:
Never send sensitive, personal information, security details or credit card numbers by email.
Never click on a link in an email if you are unsure about it, especially if it asks for personal financial information.
Make sure you have a spam filter on your email accountPlease Note: Royal Mail will under no circumstances ask you to send your account details or password via e-mail.

Reporting potential scams:

If you receive a suspicious e-mail or discover a Royal Mail branded website which you believe to be fraudulent, please contact Customer Services. If you have are the victim of a payment scam, you can obtain a crime reference number by reporting the incident to your local Police station or visiting the Action Fraud website. For expert advice on other email scams visit the Metropolitan Police website or read articles focussing on this area at Safe from Scams website.

On my experience, every-time I got a large parcel and I am not at home, they will leave a small card on my mailbox with all the information on how to get the parcel, sometimes a letter through the post indicating that I got a parcel that requires a custom tax payment. So I think this email that I received now is definitely a scam!

This is the email I received today:

From: Royal Mail
To: youremail@yahoo(.)co(.)uk
Sent: Friday, 23 September 2011,
Subject: Royal Mail Error package delivery
Dear customer.

A courier did not deliver the package to your address.
Reason: Error in delivery address.
Information about your package is attached to the letter.
Read all information carefully and come to the "Royal Mail" office to receive your package.

Thank you.

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show her off to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men. He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times. Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be! Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest
clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart.

The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!"

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die. Our 3rd wife? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament. (read ecclesiastes ch 7)

Women's Scrubs Sets

I have just spoken to a friend who is now undergoing her training at the hospital where my husband used to work, and that friend of mine inquired if I got an idea where she could get an affordable scrub uniform. Well, I told her about, you see my husband got a pair of scrubs from this website which actually lasted longer than the scrubs uniform he bought from the hospital. He does like and prefer to use that one compared to the scrubs he bought from the hospital because it is more comfortable and looks a lot better than the other one, even if they do have same color. Anyway, they do make scrubs for women and the prices are affordable too! So I gave her the website where she could have a look at the styles and selection of colors and will wait and see if she gets one as well! I Love the website and the style of their scrubs on sale, so if you are looking for scrubs, you can check out the website too!

I got here a sample photo of their scrubs, I took this from the website just to show you that they do men's, women's, and kids scrubs too.

Marty McFly’s shoes sold on ebay

I saw this on Television today and also over the internet that Nike has produced a limited run of 1,500 pairs of the MAG to be sold on eBay in behalf of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The shoes were worn by Marty McFly from the film Back to the Future 2, a big hit SCI-fi adventure comedy film of the 80's which is my favorite film by the way! I saw some pictures on eBay and they do look exactly the same as the one on the film, it has a glowing Nike logo and glowing side of the outsole. Oh, if you are curious if it does lace-up by itself automatically just like on the film, well, I have read on the yahoo news and it says it doesn't. But still, having one of this would be great! So if I can only afford these shoes, I would definitely get one.

I have here some photos of the shoes I got from eBay.

Import VAT on gifts received from USA to UK

Yesterday I got an invoice from the post office; well actually it was from Parcel Force stating I was sent a parcel from overseas and that it is subject to pay an import VAT which cost £8.67 and a clearance fee of another £8, total of 16.67. Now I was wondering why I got a customs charge as I did not order anything from abroad! The invoice said that they are going to keep the parcel for 20 days, and then it will be returned to sender. But if paid, which you can only do online, they are going to deliver it the next day.

I have paid for it and today it has been delivered. It was actually a gift for my daughter from my sister in America. I have spoken to my sister and she was wondering why the gift was taxed? Well, here is the thing that every sender should know when sending a gift to the United Kingdom. Your receiving party will pay an import value tax if your declared value of the gift you are sending exceeds £40. I think my sister put in $70 as a declared value so I was charge £8.67 for it. Plus the clearance fee charge of £8 from the Parcel Force, which they say would help cover the cost of additional handling, administration, collection of monies and provision of facilities for customs clearance of packages; these will all be billed to the receiving party. My sister was actually surprised to know that the cost of sending it plus the taxes paid where actually higher than the content of the parcel. Anyway, what’s done is done. But here is some additional information you might want to know about import taxes, I got this from the invoice that came yesterday.

Import Value Thresholds:
For goods moving within EU, import duties do not usually apply. However, for good imported from non-EU countries, customs charges do apply, these may include duty, excise duty and import VAT. Goods with a value of £18(for commercial items including internet/mail order purchases), or £40 in case of gifts between private individuals (plus shipping costs and postage for commercial items).

Plumbing Repair Expert

If you got a problem with plumbing in your household, and want to fix it yourself in order to save money, well think again! I recently had a bad experience with do it yourself plumbing, you see, my kitchen drainage clogged up and my husband tried fixing it by himself thinking he could do it and could save us up a bit of money, but due to not having any experience with plumbing and how the drainage system works, he just made the problem worst! The water leaks and got a soaking wet kitchen floor with a bit of a smell, and to top it up, still cannot make use of the sink. After 6 hours fiddling with the pipes, my husband got fed up and told me I can now call an expert to fix it, wow it was music to my ears! I phoned up a plumbing service and the next day a plumber came over to fix it. Took him an hour to get the job done and he tidied up and left without any marks or spills of water on the kitchen floor. I would say it is a job well done and was surprised to see that the bill is not expensive at all! That is what we should have done in the first place, to call an expert to do the job. It could have save us all the hassles with water leaks and not being able to use the kitchen sink for a whole day. Now, if you got a plumbing problem, my advice is go get a plumbing expert to fix it!

Puffer Fish AKA Buriring

My brother took this photo when he saw a local fisherman selling it in the Philippines. You see, in some parts of Asia they cook this fish and eat it, but that would be after taking out the poison on this fish.

I have not tried it and would probably not to anyway because they said this fish contains tetrodotoxin which can cause paralysis or even death to a person eating it. I also found out on Wikipedia that this maple or puffer fish is said to be the second most poisonous vertebrate in the world, after the Golden poison frog.

I knew some people who have eaten this kind of fish and they said it really taste good, but the question is, would you take the risk in eating this kind of fish?

Review: Rosetta Business Translation Services London

There are many translation agencies in London, but so far I have only known one that really rings a bell and that is Rosetta Translation Agency. This company has been renowned for giving high-quality document translations and has been chosen by most major companies here in the UK such as BBC, Ofsted, Barclays, Dell, Epson, BP, LLOYDS and many more.

Now, I have not been a customer of this company yet, but I have a friend who works for a law firm and that friend of mine said they always use Rosetta agency when it comes to the legal translation of their documents because the services offered by this agency was always spot on! She added that Rosetta translation service is always fair when it comes to pricing, all documents were done promptly and quickly, and most of all, they never got any problems with the translated documents. They have been using this translation agency for some time now and the conclusion is that, yes! She does recommend this agency to anyone looking for a fast and good value for money translation service.

Legal translation is only one of Rosetta translation expertise, so you do not have to worry is you are looking for financial, technical or medical translation as they offer those too! They do many of languages from all over the world and the cleaver thing about Rosetta translation service is that they not only translate from foreign language to English and English to a foreign language but they can also do it on other foreign language to another foreign language, like Chinese to Spanish or Dutch to Hindi, all you need to do is ask them by sending them an email or calling their provided number on their website or simply fill up the free no obligation quote. Wish you all the best!

Paracetamol limit

My family and I have recently recovered from a flu, which only lasted 3 days treating ourselves at home with rest and some paracetamols. Well, here is the thing when I bought the paracetamols. I actually needed more than 3 boxes of paracetamol since there were 3 of us on the family who has got the flu, but when I checked out at the till (cashier), I was told that I could only buy 2 boxes, which is a total of 32 pieces tablets. And I ask why?, the cashier replied by law they are only allowed to sell up to 32 pcs tablets of paracetamol to each person, but when I told her I needed 3 since there were 3 of us in the family who got a flu, she said I could get more if I would pay it separately, so I did! Anyway, I am just glad I did not went on another till and another queue that time as I was not really well and was starting to think that this restriction is just a hassle. Well, they said this was implemented to cut down suicides due to paracetamol overdose; did it actually cut down the overdose cases since this was implemented? Just curious, and hope it did.

My Review on bendy hair rollers for hair curling

I got these bendy rollers a month ago and I only used it once due to the following reasons:

• It does not curl my hair – I have a very think straight hair and it does not really curl my hair. Tried it on my wet hair because according to the seller’s description it is best to put it on when your hair is a little damp or wet. I do admit that it would create a little bit of wave, but after an hour my hair will be back to straight again.

• Some of the bendy rollers Styrofoam that covers the metal got torn after the first use, and some of it cannot be used again.

These are actually very cheap, so it is understandable that you get what you paid for. Anyway, it might work on thin hair or if you leave it overnight. The only good thing I can see about this product is that you don’t have to use any heat or chemical on your hair.

New Deal Fun Auction Site

I just joined in this new auction website called and was very intrigue on this. I do not know if you have already heard about this or have already joined in too but based on what I saw, it looks like a good place to get a bargain! This is similar to ebay, but on this one you have to purchase the bids first before you can start bidding on a particular item on their auction page. I had manage to get 45 bids worth $27 in which I would like to try first on smaller items before purchasing a larger number of bids and bidding on more expensive things. Well, I am still trying to figure out how to do this, so might as well try it in a small amount first. Now, unlike the other auction website, this one only offers brand new items. I have seen some really good ones like iPad’s, iPhone’s, Kindles, Laptops, LED TV’s, to PS3 that are sold for a very low price. In fact, a moment ago I have seen a 16BG iPhone 4 unlocked sold on their auction for just $129.14. Now that is just brilliant!

The good thing about this is that this has no weekly or monthly cap, you got the option to bid or buy the product you want, and they have a win guarantee that if you do not win in the first 24 hours, all the bids are then rest. I have been researching about this and what people are saying on this Deal Fun and found some good comments like you could get a really cheap laptop, TV’s and so on, and some also added that you could easily get in touch with their customer service which is said that the average response time is only 15 minutes. I have also seen an article about it at consumer news today and you can have a read on it too about how Puts a Exciting Twist on Online Shopping.

Buzz lightyear toy

My little girl is a toy story fan and she got a couple of toy story toy collection bought from different shops online. I think the most expensive toy story toy she got is the Toy Story 3 Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear which my husband and I gave to her last Christmas. It was worth £50 way back then, durable toy, although I wished I got her the earlier version with the pop-out wings, spaceship box, 65 phrases, glow-in-the-dark trim, and an interactive talk back communicator as it is more like what Andy had on the film. Anyway, this Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear earlier version is still selling for £36 on Amazon, but just yesterday I saw it on Morrisons for £17! Yes I can’t believe how cheap it is there, considering I paid £50 for my daughter’s buzzlightyear. There was only one left there, so I ask my daughter if she want that one, and then she replied no because she already got a buzzlightyear at home.

The Buzzlightyear version I saw at Morrisons:

7 Web Sites To Find Acting Jobs And Auditions

Aspiring actors need to find auditions and acting jobs if they are ever going to break into the business or if they want to keep working in it. There are more resources now than ever before for locating these jobs and auditions and many of these resources can be found online. Here are 7 web sites to find acting jobs and auditions, what to look for in sites like this, and what they can do for you.

Number Of Jobs And Auditions Listed

All of these sites are going to list jobs and auditions but whenever you look at sites like this you want to look at how many jobs and auditions they have to advertise. You know as an actor that getting jobs is about putting yourself out there and heading to as many auditions as you can so you want resources that advertise a lot of auditions. You don't want to waste your time going from site to site if there are only a few jobs listed on each one.

Up-To-Date Listings

You need current listings. The best web sites for acting jobs and auditions are updated constantly so that you always know what opportunities are available to you right now. It is true that some casting calls are offered over an extended period of time but you want web sites that remove opportunities once they are no longer options. Going to auditions is hard enough without mistakenly trying to seek out auditions that have already been closed.

Helpful Search Options

You want to be able to search through all the opportunities on these web sites easily. You are not going to be ideally suited for every acting job that comes out so you don't want to have to sort through every listing. Web sites that feature a wide range of helpful search options are the best because then you can focus your efforts on auditions that are most likely to lead to acting jobs.

Web Site Appearance

With sites like this, you want to stop to think about how they present themselves. The appearance of web sites of this type will often tell you the quality of the content. If someone created a web site to advertise auditions but did not take the time to make that web site look professional then you have to question how much work was put into assembling the audition listings.

Acting Advice

Even thought these sites are geared toward providing listings of acting job auditions it is nice when they also provide some resources on acting. The right acting advice may just point you toward the right acting coach but this can be invaluable. These web sites don't need to limit content to audition listings.

Tips On Landing Acting Jobs

The best of these web sites give you tips on landing acting jobs. That is why you are seeking out these sites, after all. They should do all that they can to help you get the acting jobs that you find on these sites.

Getting rid of ear wax

My husband usually got an earwax problem once in every two years, resulting to his hear loss and he usually sees a doctor to have it syringe, but recently he just did it by himself using an Otex ear drops and a bulb syringe that came along with it. It is actually called otex express combi pack and is for adults and children over 12 years of age. The procedure is very easy and I think it is the same as any other make of ear wax drops, but the only reason why my husband got this is that it came with a syringe.

The ear wax drops bottle has a little nozzle on it when opened, so all he did is tilt his head sideways and squeeze the ear drops into his ear. He kept his head tilted for a few minutes and then wiped the outer ear with a tissue after he did it. He did this procedure, twice daily for 3 days and on the 4th day, he uses the syringe to get the wax off his ear, and it worked well! The good thing is that he said it did not hurt when he uses the syringe and got his hearing back straight away after the wax was off his ears.

Got a picture here of the box:

Net10 Unlimited mobile phone plan: The no contract mobile phone plan

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Net10 for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I just got to tell you about this offer I recently saw on video that made me see the Light as how brilliant this unlimited mobile service is from NET10. With its no contracts, no surprise bills and no credit checks you can get an unlimited plan with unlimited talk, unlimited txt, and web/email for just $50 a month without any hidden fees! Yes, that means a flat rate of $50 each month, and it’s so easy to join! All you have to do is buy an affordable NET10 phone and have it activated, then test it by sending a txt message, test call, or download a ringtone, and then buy and add an airtime card, then, your set!

By the way, I had a look at their mobile phones and they all came from good brands like LG, Motorola, Nokia, Kyocera and Samsung. All modern, easy to use, and most of all very affordable! I think this NET10 unlimited plan is ideal for businesses in terms of saving money and any business personnel could really make use of the unlimited things. In terms of personal use, I would recommend that you check out their other cheaper deals like the $15 a month for 200 minutes or their pay as you go plans. Of course, you have to base it on how you are going to use your phone, so I suggest that you check out the details of the plans they currently are offering.  Now, I have seen a lot of NET10 videos on and here are some of those that I want to share with you: A video interview of a real NET10 customer and a cute NET10 commercial.

Chocolate fondue set

I bought this recently a mastard chocolate fondue set as my family and I love chocolate so much and I thought this would be perfect for just the 3 of us, and I was right! This little fondue bowl could keep a melted chocolate warm and runny while the candle still lights up and there is plenty for 3 people.

I would say this could serve up to 4-5 people, although it only have 4 forks that came with it, you can always use wooden/bamboo skewers sticks. This would be a nice table centerpiece if you got guest around 4-5 people and great when serve with pretzels, fresh fruits, marshmallows, sweets, cakes, dried fruit, and brioche. As of chocolate left overs, (if you got some) you could do a chocolate rice crispy cake with it using a rice crispy cereal.

Stunning Apartments and Home for Rent in Calgary Alberta Canada

If you are looking for an affordable apartment or house for rent in the beautiful city of Calgary, then I would highly recommend that you check out this website. They have loads of stunning houses and apartments for rent and some are furnished too! Now the reason I am recommending this website is that, a friend of mine has actually just move in to her newly rented family home in the North West and she was very pleased with it. I have not been there yet, but she did tell me that it was fully furnished and immaculately clean!

She got the house of the said online rental website, she said it is very easy and everything is very accurate, like the pricing and description of each property, as she did had a look at a couple of property before she saw the one she is living in now. Well, I did have a look and yes, she is right, it is very easy as you can just click on the map or the names of the cities and it will give you a list of properties for rent on the area as well as photos, description and contact information. It would surely make finding a property a lot easier for everyone!

Basic and important checklist for a summer holiday abroad

I have been seeing a lot of checklist online for holidays abroad but seriously there is only a few that I would consider as important and the rest is just additional miscellaneous. • Airline tickets
• hotel documentation
• Cameras & mobile phones
• Foreign currency or travelers cheques
• Health insurance contact number

When traveling with a baby:
